The conflict is growing in Telekomunikacja Polska (TP S.A.), which is owned by France Telecom. The authorities of TP S.A. decided to fire 3,5 thousand people in 2005. Trade unions operating in TP S.A. made a decision to begin a protest action. Trade union "Solidarity", gathering 17 thousand workers of TP S.A. is organizing a strike action. The decision about the protest was supported with the referendum by 90 per cent of the crew. The information about firing people in 2005 warmed up the atmoshere in the company. The authorities say about reductions of 10-12 thousand work places. On 11th April the strike is to begin. If strike takes place, it will be the biggest protest action in Poland for many years. Trade unions were taking up strikes several times prviously (railway and industrial plants in the Silesia region). However, general strike has never been reached.
