Two wildcat strikes took place today, first in the Fabryka Pojazdow Szynowych in Poznan, a plant owned by HCP (Cegielski) company, and the second one in the Wagon factory in Ostrow, a railway rolling-stock producer and repairer factory. In both cases, the workers demanded payment of wage arrears. They also claim that their protest may have more radical forms in the future.
H. Cegielski – Fabryka Pojazdow Szynowych is a company established in April 1997 and fully owned by HCP. Its activity range is production and services in the field of rolling stock and rail vehicles. The factory employ few hundreds of workers. On November, 16, workers organized a strike that lasted until 11:30 a.m. in order to received their October wages. Some days earlier, the factory boss, Jaroslaw Lazurko, promised to pay the wage arrears. The workers declared that they are ready to repeat the protest next week. In Ostrow, the Wagon employees were on strike for two hours and threatened to carry out the general strike in the coming days. The reason is similar: wage arrears and violation of workers' rights.
